Gaborone, Botswana – Zimbabwe has made an impressive start at the ongoing Botswana Marathon after wheelchair racer Godknows Dziripi claimed first place and a gold medal in the Men’s 10km Wheelchair Race.

Dziripi’s victory marks Zimbabwe’s first medal at the competition, where a team of four athletes with disabilities is proudly representing the country across different race categories.

The gold medal is a significant achievement for both the athlete and Zimbabwe’s para-sport community, highlighting the country’s growing strength in wheelchair racing and the determination of athletes with disabilities to excel on the regional stage.

The Zimbabwean delegation remains optimistic as they await results from the remaining categories, with the other three athletes still in competition.

Official accompanying the team Nyasha Nhau, expressed confidence that more podium finishes could follow, as the athletes continue to showcase resilience, talent and the spirit of representing Zimbabwe with pride.
