Highlanders midfielder Mongameli Tshuma has been left out of the Warriors squad named by head coach Ramón Catalá for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying double-header against Equatorial Guinea.
Tshuma was part of the provisional squad and had been putting in some notable performances for his club.
However, he failed to make the final 24-man selection, with no official explanation provided for his omission.
Catalá has named 24 players, with Scottland emerging as the best-represented club. The reigning Premier Soccer League champions contribute six players: goalkeeper Nelson Chadya, defenders Kelvin Moyo, Peter Muduhwa and Emmanuel Jalai, and midfielders Abubakar Moffat and Mthokozisi Msebe.
Hardrock have two representatives in goalkeeper Martin Mapisa and defender Tinotenda Muringai. The other two goalkeepers are Highlanders’ Aaron Ngwenya and ZPC Kariba’s Future Sibanda.
The defence features several foreign-based players, including Watford’s Jordan Zemura, Ipswich Town’s Corbin Mthunzi, Sheffield Wednesday’s Sean Fusire and Sarajevo’s Shane Maroodza.
In midfield, Marshall Munetsi of Wolves, Andy Rinomhota of Reading, Jonah Fabisch of Golden Arrows and Marvellous Nakamba of Panetolikos provide international experience alongside Scottland’s Moffat and Msebe.
Up front, Catalá has selected Wolves’ Tawanda Chirewa, Motherwell’s Tawanda Maswanhise, KV Mechelen’s Bill Antonio, Marumo Gallants’ Daniel Msendami, Aris Salonica’s Tinotenda Kadewere and AmaZulu’s Thando Ngwenya.
