The Consumer Council of Zimbabwe (CCZ) has urged consumers to make informed decisions and prioritize safety and value for their money during this festive season.
In a statement to mark the end of the year, CCZ Chief Executive Officer, Rose Mpofu said :
“CCZ remains committed to protecting and promoting consumer rights, ensuring access to safe, quality, and fairly priced goods and services.”
” As you shop and travel during this festive period, be vigilant against counterfeit products, unfair trade practices, and misleading information.”
She called on consumers to utilize CCZ to resolve disputes that may arise during the course of their shopping errands.
“As consumer transactions increase during the holidays, CCZ reminds consumers and businesses alike to make use of its Conciliation and Arbitration services to resolve disputes in a fair, efficient, and amicable manner.
“These alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, remain available to ensure that consumer complaints are addressed promptly, even during the festive period, without the need for lengthy legal processes.”
She added:
“We are urging consumers to make priority on school fees and other obligations as the first terms approaches, avoid drinking and driving, desist from taking drugs and other substances and avoid unnecessary debts during this festive season.
“We thank all our partners for their continued support and collaboration throughout the year.”
