Zimbabwe senior men’s national football team coach Ramón Catalá has unveiled his final squad for the Warriors’ opening two Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 qualifying matches against Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Catalá announced the 23-member squad on Monday as Zimbabwe prepares to begin its Group E campaign with two crucial fixtures later this month.
The Warriors will open their qualification campaign against Sierra Leone on 24 September at Stade Ben M’Sik in El Jadida, Morocco, before returning home to face the DRC four days later.
The second encounter is scheduled for 28 September at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.
The squad features a blend of experienced campaigners and emerging talent, with captain Marshall Munetsi, Marvelous Nakamba and Tino Kadewere among the senior players expected to provide leadership.
Goalkeeping duties will be shared by Elvis Chipezeze of Magesi, Martin Mapisa of Hardrock and Nelson Chadya of Scottland.
The defensive department includes Divine Lunga, Munashe Garananga, Corbin Mthunzi, Shane Maroodza, Sean Fusire, Emmanuel Jalai, Peter Muduhwa, Kevin Moyo and Isaac Mabaya.
In midfield, Catalá has selected Munetsi, Andy Rinomhota, Abubakar Moffat, Nakamba and Prosper Padera.
The attacking options comprise Thando Ngwenya, Tawanda Chirewa, Bill Antonio, Daniel Msendami, Tawanda Maswanhise, Prince Dube and Kadewere.
The Warriors will be hoping to make a strong start to the qualifying campaign as they seek a place at the 2027 AFCON finals.
