Morocco has achieved its highest-ever position in the FIFA Men’s World Ranking, climbing to sixth place following their impressive run to the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup. The Atlas Lions gained one spot from June’s ranking, collecting 1,803.99 points, just less than one point behind five-time world champions Brazil.
This milestone places Morocco ahead of football heavyweights like Portugal (7th), Belgium (8th), the Netherlands (9th), and Mexico (10th), cementing their status as Africa’s top-ranked team. Spain now leads the global standings after winning the World Cup, overtaking Argentina, while France and England remain in third and fourth place.
Elsewhere, Norway made the biggest leap, rising 12 places to 19th, while Tunisia suffered the steepest drop, falling to 57th. Spain recorded the largest points gain, while Panama endured the biggest loss.
