At least 515 Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) students graduated in various programme faculties on Friday 16 May, 2025 fulfilling the wish and legacy of the late Archbishop Professor Ezekiel Guti who supported educational and empowerment initiatives to uplift people’s lives.
This is the ninth graduation ceremony facilitated by the university held at its campus in Bindura.
Dr Frank Chitukutuku, ZEGU Chairman of University Council said the ninth graduation ceremony ran under the theme:Embracing heritage based holistic entrepreneurship and innovation for sustainable development.
He said the theme puts emphasis on home grown solutions and services to meet societal needs using heritage based resources. Dr Chitukutuku said the university council is committed to ensuring that ZEGU continues to be a beacon of academic excellence, innovation, industrialisation and ethical leadership. The university council’s role is to provide strategic oversight, ensure good governance and supports the vision of the university as inspired by the legacy of the Founding Chancellor Archbishop Professor Ezekiel Guti. Professor Innocent Chirisa, Vice Chancellor of ZEGU said the graduation is the second ceremony to be held after the passing on of the Founding Chancellor Archbishop Professor Ezekiel Guti.
Professor Chirisa said the year 2024 witnessed the continuous operationalisation of the university’s Transformative Strategy Plan (TSP) from 2023 to 2028 focused on increasing the number of academic study programmes in line with market demand as one of its six pillars. He said at least 40 degree programmes are at various stages of development in preparation for submission to the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE) for accreditation. The Vice Chancellor said the university is grateful to the approval of the introduction of the 50% tuition fees discount scholarship to deserving ZAOGA Forward ln Faith Ministries international congregrants for some selected degree programmes. Nineteen graduands completed masters degree, 460 graduated with honours degrees, six with post graduate diplomas and 30 with diplomas from the university.
The graduands are 163 males and 352 females. The ceremony also witnessed the graduation of the first cohort of the Masters of Science in Strategic Management. Also a number of pastors from ZAOGA FIF church graduated at the recent ceremony.
