THE Rhinos proudly represented the country at the just ended 2026 FISU Games where they faced off against some of the globes’ powerhouses in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
Performing at the highest level has become a norm for the Rhinos who keep on setting bars for excellence on the local university rugby scene.
Speaking in an interview with the media, Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) Captain Gealan Jaricha was elated by the team’s achievements at the FISU games.
“What makes me particularly proud is that we represented ZEGU and Zimbabwe with dignity.
“This tournament has shown us that we belong on this stage, and I believe this is only the beginning for the ZEGU Rhinos,” said Jaricha.
Meanwhile, the ZEGU Sports Coordinator, Paul Goronga commended the Rhinos and ZEGU Chancellor for logistical support that enabled the team to remain focused on the herculean task.
“This prestigious event, held in South Africa, marks the pinnacle of inter-university athletic competitions, and our team’s performance was commendable.
“We want to express our profound appreciation to the ZEGU administration for their sponsorship which facilitated the team’s participation and to the Chancellor for his invaluable contribution of air tickets and essential logistical arrangements that ensured the team’s successful journey,” said Goronga.
Kudos to the Rhinos for putting up an unforgettable show against rugby royalty.
