The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has confirmed that Confederation of African Football president Patrice Motsepe is set to visit the country again this weekend.

Motsepe is expected to attend the COSAFA Congress which will be held in Harare ahead of the regional body’s annual general meeting and activities linked to the upcoming COSAFA Cup tournament.

ZIFA confirmed the development on its official website, describing the visit as another significant moment for Zimbabwean football.

“The significance of the occasion will be further underlined by the presence of CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, who is expected to grace the Congress in Harare.

“His visit will mark his second trip to Zimbabwe in a month, having also attended the CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals hosted in the country in April.

“His return is a strong reflection of Zimbabwe’s growing visibility within the continental football landscape and the country’s renewed engagement with regional and African football structures.”

Motsepe was in Zimbabwe last month for the CAF African Schools Football Championship finals, where he praised the country for successfully hosting the continental youth tournament.

Several football officials from across Southern Africa are expected in Harare for the COSAFA Congress, with the gathering set to discuss key issues affecting football development in the region.
