Bulawayo – Highlanders Football Club has announced burial arrangements for four members who died last week, with a combined send-off service set for Monday at Barbourfields Stadium.
In a statement, the club said the joint service will be held at Barbourfields Stadium on Monday, 27 July 2026 at 9:00 AM. Individual burials will follow.
The club described the four as dedicated members of the _Siyinqaba_ family whose contributions cut across the terraces, administration, and community development.
Siziba, 42, was a lifelong Highlanders supporter from Makokoba and a regular in the Bosso Singers section. A member of the club’s supporters association for over 15 years, he was known for leading chants and mobilizing fans for away games. He worked as a taxi operator in Bulawayo. He will be buried at Lady Stanley Cemetery on Monday, 27 July 2026, after the service.
Khoza, 38, served as a junior development coach with Highlanders’ youth structures for 8 years. He was credited with scouting and mentoring players from Bulawayo’s high-density suburbs and was active in the club’s community outreach programs. He will be laid to rest alongside Siziba at Lady Stanley Cemetery on Monday.
Mhlophe, 67, was a retired Zimbabwe National Army officer and a Highlanders executive committee member. He joined the club’s board in 2018 and chaired the security and logistics sub-committee. A Bosso supporter since the 1970s, he was instrumental in professionalizing match-day operations at Barbourfields. He will be buried at Lady Stanley Cemetery on Tuesday, 28 July 2026.
Sibanda, 35, was a member of the Highlanders Ladies Supporters Chapter and coordinated fundraising for the women’s team in Matabeleland South. From Filabusi, she was known for organizing transport for rural fans attending home games. She will be buried in Filabusi on Tuesday, 28 July 2026.
“The Club continues to extend its deepest condolences to the families, friends, supporters, and the entire Highlanders FC community during this difficult time,” the statement read. “May their souls rest in eternal peace.”
The club has called on supporters and the football fraternity to attend the service and give the departed members a befitting send-off.
