Gweru City Parking has received double academic boost after the parking management company’s board chairman Owen Masimba recently attained a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Development Administration (Leadership).
Dr Masimba, who also serves as Chamber Secretary for the City of Gweru graduated with the doctorate at a university in South Africa barely four months after fellow board member, Dr Simon Muzviyo graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Business Management from the University of Zambia.
The double achievement has been described as a major boost of confidence in the company that runs the city’s parking system.
Gweru City Parking under the leadership of General Manager Alphanette Gemu congratulated Dr Masimba, saying the academic achievement strengthened service delivery and good governance at the parking management company.
“The board, management and staff of Gweru City Parking rally behind you in celebrating this milestone,”Gweru City Parking said.
“As the chairman of the Gweru City Parking board, your academic success brings pride to our organisation and strengthens our collective commitment to good governance and service excellence. Well done Dr Masimba, your success is our inspiration and we are proud of you.”
In the first quarter this year Gemu was appointed to the Zimbabwe board asset management company, Smartvest Wealth Managers Board with Gweru City Parking describing his appointment as a “testament” to his “outstanding leadership expertise and unwavering commitment to excellence.”
Gemu’s appointment to Smartvest board also followed his graduation as a professional director.
The human capital development at Gweru City Parking comes at a time when the company has been commended for improving efficiency, reliability, convenience and excellence and bringing a viable parking management system in the Midlands capital.
