ActionAid Zimbabwe and its partners are conducting Participatory Review and Reflection Processes (PRRPs) across Local Rights Programmes in Zimbabwe, with communities playing a central role in shaping development priorities and future interventions.
ActionAid Zimbabwe said the processes ensure that community voices, particularly those of women, young people and marginalised groups, remain at the centre of planning and decision-making.
“These processes have been a cornerstone of our work, ensuring that the voices of communities, especially women, youth and marginalised groups, are at the heart of our planning and decision making,” ActionAid Zimbabwe said.
The organisation said the insights gathered during the PRRPs will directly inform its 2027 programming, helping guide interventions towards greater impact, accountability and sustainability.
ActionAid Zimbabwe said the reflection exercises are also enabling its teams and partners to witness firsthand the impact of community-led development initiatives.
In Chipinge, the process included a visit to Maunganidze Primary School in Ward 1, where ActionAid Zimbabwe, working in partnership with Jekesa Pfungwa Vulingqondo, has supported improvements to the school’s learning environment.
The organisation said two completed classroom blocks were visited, with the support including painting of both blocks, provision of student desks and classroom furniture, teachers’ furniture and installation of chalkboards.
The intervention builds on ActionAid Zimbabwe’s longstanding partnership with the school.
ActionAid Zimbabwe also supported Maunganidze Primary School following the COVID-19 pandemic by repairing and roofing a classroom block whose roof had been blown off.
“Accountability to communities means planning with them, not for them,” ActionAid Zimbabwe said.
The organisation thanked community members, leaders and partners for their participation in the reflection processes, saying their contributions would help shape future programmes and priorities.
The ongoing PRRPs are expected to provide lessons and community-generated insights to guide ActionAid Zimbabwe’s programming in 2027 while strengthening accountability between development partners and the communities they serve.
