Vulnerable families in Shurugwi have received a major boost after receiving food hampers and school fees from Gweru based land developer River Valley Group of Companies.
The donations handed at Tongogara heroes acre during the recent Heroes Day celebrations targetted widows and school children.
A widow, Fadzai Nyoka said her life has changed over the years as she continues to be a beneficiary of River Valley humanitarian assistance.
“We have been uplifted and we are happy because this timely assistance has helped restore dignity to our households,”Nyoka said
Another widow, Locardia Madzudzu said the gesture has helped ease her family’s financial burden.
“I am happy with the assistance which cannot be equated to anything,”she said.
“This life changing help has eased my family’s financial burden. I really want to appreciate River Valley for this assistance.”
Princess Mambudzi, a pupil at Mavedzenge Primary School said she never missed classes because her school fees, uniforms and learning materials were fully catered for by River Valley.
“I am happy with the help l am getting towards my education,”she said.
“I am being looked after very well and l want to reciprocate this love when l grow up. I will definitely give back to my community when l finish my education.”
River Valley chief executive Amb Smelly Dube said her family remains committed to help the less privileged in an area where their mining and housing developments operate.
“We have set ourselves to do this because this is where we are based,”Amb Dube said.
“This is the community we serve and we will continue to abide by President (Emmerson) Mnangagwa’s mantra of leaving no one and no place behind.”
