Madziva, Zimbabwe

Last week Mr Mathew Date was pushing a wheelbarrow with his new artificial limb.
Today, he is cycling down a dirt road in Madziva, smiling, independent, and free.

Mr Mathew received his prosthetic limb through the CBR program. What started as therapy and basic mobility has grown into something much bigger: confidence, purpose, and independence.

The video shows Mr Mathew balancing, steering, and riding with ease on rough rural terrain. For many, it’s just a bike ride. For Mr Mathew, it’s proof that disability does not mean inability.

“This limb gave me my life back,” he says. “Now I can go to my field, to the market, and visit my neighbors without waiting for anyone.”

Stories like Mr Mathew’s are why CBR matters. It’s not just about devices. It’s about restoring dignity. It’s about a man who went from needing help to push a wheelbarrow, to riding a bicycle by himself in 7 days.

With the right support, people with disabilities don’t just survive. They thrive.

The CBR program has now completed assessments for 20 clients with devices and follow-up care. Your support makes stories like this possible.
