The Southern African Development Community (SADC) in collaboration with the Germany Government through the “Strengthening the National-Regional Linkages in SADC” (SNRL) programme, conducted  a Capacity Building Workshop in support of Angola’s quest to contribute and accelerate the implementation of the SADC regional integration and development agenda.

The four-day workshop which began on 20  April 2026 in Luanda, Republic of Angola,  drew participants from various Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies responsible for the implementation and advancement of the priorities of the SADC Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP) 2020-2030 and Vision 2050.

In her remarks at the opening of the workshop, the SADC National Contact Point for the Republic of Angola, Ms. Flávia Lutucuta, reiterated Angola’s firm commitment of the Republic of Angola, particularly the Ministry of Planning, as coordinator of the National Planning System, and the Ministry of External Relations, to continue improving the systems for aligning national policy measures with regional development instruments such as the RISDP 2020-2030 and Vision 2050.

She highlighted that the workshop  contributed  to deepening knowledge, aligning strategies, and consolidating partnerships for a more effective implementation and monitoring of the outcomes of the RISDP 2020-2030.

On the part of the SADC Secretariat, the Senior Programme Officer for Policy and Strategy Development in the Directorate of Policy Planning and Resource Mobilisation, Mr. Dennis Rweyemamu, commended the Republic of Angola for bringing together cross-government stakeholders, highlighting that, accelerating regional integration requires robust national systems for planning, coordination, resource mobilisation, implementation, monitoring, and knowledge sharing.

The workshop covered the overview of the SADC Regional Integration Agenda, overview of the Treaty, Vision 2050, and RISDP 2020-2030, the main findings and lessons from the Mid-Term Review of RISDP 2020-2030, SADC Legal Instruments (Protocols and Agreements) and challenges associated with their ratification, domestication, rationalisation and coordination of Summit and Council Decisions and strengthening communication, awareness, and visibility of SADC programmes and initiatives.
