HARARE — The Zimbabwe Republic Police have issued a public appeal for information to help locate Hazel Silibaziso Mafu, who is wanted in connection with a series of fraud cases involving motor vehicle imports worth over US$155,000.
According to the police statement released on 13 May 2026, Mafu, director of Hezy Motors Logistics Private Limited, is accused of defrauding 20 complainants between 2022 and April 2026.
The company marketed itself as an importer of motor vehicles on behalf of clients, advertising its services widely through social media, electronic, and print media. Police allege Mafu misrepresented her capacity to source and deliver vehicles within agreed time frames and at competitive prices.
Several Zimbabweans reportedly paid varying amounts for vehicle purchases and importation after responding to the adverts. However, police say she allegedly failed to deliver the vehicles after receiving payment.
“So far, a total of 20 complainants who were allegedly defrauded of USD155,211.00 have reported their cases to the police,” the statement read.
The ZRP is urging anyone with information on Mafu’s whereabouts to contact their nearest police station or reach out to the National Complaints Desk on (0242) 703631, WhatsApp 0712 800 197, or the CID Commercial Crimes Division Northern Region on (0242) 703030.
The appeal was issued by Commissioner P. Nyathi, Chief Staff Officer for Press and Public Relations at Police General Headquarters.
