Advocate Felix Mhona, Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, alongside Advocate Ndudzo, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East Province, recently officially opened the newly constructed Manyame River Bridge along the Harare-Masvingo-Beitbridge Road.

They said the critical link is part of the North-South Corridor, a vital trade artery connecting the country to the rest of the continent. According to the Minister of Transport, the new bridge will ease traffic flow, improve safety, and boost cross-border commerce.

Speaking at the event, Minister Mhona extended profound gratitude to President Emmerson Mnangagwa for his unwavering commitment to infrastructure-led development, noting that such projects are central to enhancing national and regional connectivity.

Mhona confirmed that construction of the Harare-Chirundu Road and the modernization of the Chirundu Border Post is set to commence in September further strengthening Zimbabwe’s role as a gateway to SADC markets.

The event was graced by the Permanent Secretary Engineer Joy Makumbe, heads of parastatals under the Ministry’s portfolio, and several senior government officials.
