Police arrested Nyasha Bandawe (22) after he stabbed his mother, Hilda Drawu (59) several times with a kitchen knife, following a misunderstanding.Shortly afterwards, he then stabbed his five year old niece with a screwdriver before fleeing.
Police confirmed the incident.
“Police in Marimba on 5 February, arrested Nyasha Bandawe (22) in connection with murder and attempted murder cases in which he allegedly killed his mother, Hilda Drawu (59), following a misunderstanding. The suspect stabbed the victim several times on the neck with a kitchen
knife before hiding the body under the bed and locking the bedroom door.
“He then took a screwdriver and went on to stab his 5-year-old niece several times on the neck before fleeing. The injured minor was referred to Sally Mugabe Hospital for treatment.”
Meanwhile 13 people were injured on Monday after a bus overturned and landed on its side.
The accident occurred along Kadoma-Sanyati road.
Said Police:
“The ZRP is investigating a road traffic accident which occurred on Monday afternoon at the 26 kilometre peg along Kadoma-Sanyati Road. 13 people were injured when a Nehoreka bus with 51 passengers on board overturned and landed on its left.
“The bus driver and the conductor fled from the scene. The injured victims were admitted at Kadoma General Hospital.”
