A drinking binge ended in tradegy after three men assaulted a colleague to death following a misunderstanding.
Police confirmed the murder that occured in Mudzi district on 1 February 2025.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirms the arrest of Willard Macherenge (36), Johanes Makitsi (36) and William Dhlamini (19) in connection with a case of murder which occurred in Manyerere Village, Mudzi, on 1 February 2025.
The suspects allegedly assaulted Paradzai Gande (37) with switches indiscriminately all over his body following a misunderstanding during a drinking spree. The victim succumbed to injuries sustained during the assault.
The body of the victim was conveyed to Kotwa Hospital for post-mortem,”said police.
Meanwhile two men in Macheke were arrested after being found with cannabis.
Said police:
“On 2 February police in Macheke acted on a tip-off and arrested Tilon Makaenda (25) for unlawful possession of dagga in Village 5, Chiwarange Farm, Macheke. Approximately 300 grams of cannabis were recovered from the suspect’s pockets.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Albert Shayamuranda (47) and the recovery of approximately three kilograms of cannabis, which were concealed in three plastic bags hidden in the suspect’s wardrobe.”
