Mhondoro Ngezi ward 11 councillor, Kurebwa Javangwe Nhomboka has implored government to use Chinese model of executing public officials who engage in corruption as a move to curb the scourge.
In an interview with The Blast, Nhomboka who is also the president of National Mine Workers Union of Zimbabwe ( NMWZ), said it was high time government put an end to the scourge which has seen some few individuals benefiting from the country’s immense natural resources while the majority wallow in poverty.
“It is sad to note that why are we as a country not copying China’s policy on corruption…why do some of our colleagues in Zanu PF copy extension of the presidential terms limit from other countries only and ignoring everything else?
“China execute government officials on corruption cases.Lets implement that one first and stop corruption…as far as the presidential term extension is concerned, I say no to it…we should instead focus our attention of fighting corruption and ensure an equal distribution of wealth to all citizens and curb corruption which has strangled our national fabric and ethos,” said Nhomboka.
Nhomboka also stressed that government should swiftly act and take a bold move on the Chinese who have become slave masters of labour.
“It’s sad that local workers are being killed and abused on a daily basis…we must stop such unfair labour practices,” said Nhomboka.
