The sky is the limit for the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) Rhinos rugby team.
The team is aiming to compete beyond the African continent,at a global level following their recent remarkable performance in Nairobi, Kenya. The team, known as the Rhinos recently won silver in Nairobi, Kenya at the 2025 Africa Universities Rugby 7s Championships after they lost 17 to 14 to Jomo Kenyatta University in a hotly contested final.
The 2025 edition of the tournament had 14 teams from different countries. Rhinos earned the right to represent Zimbabwe at the tournament after winning the Zimbabwe Tertiary Institutions Sports Union Games. The team returned from Nairobi, Kenya yesterday afternoon.
The team participated at the 4th FASU Kings and Queens Rugby Championship held at the United States International University -Africa in Nairobi, Kenya on 4 to 5 October,2025. The winning team was comprised of Calvin Ruzvidzo as captain of the team, Liberty Sibanda (Vice Captain),Gealan Jaricha,Adonijah Chiwaridzo, Garvey Gandidze,Tapuwanashe Nyangani,Takudzwa Kamucheta,Njeresa Phiri, Owen Musumhi,Tanyaradzwa Nyeranyere,Tadiwanashe Unganai, Phillip Chimhaka and Takudzwanashe Wynne Chinyemba ( Coach). Paul Goronga, Head of Delegation said on arrival of the team yesterday that they came rejuvenated and eager to participate beyond Africa.
