The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) said it is saddened by the passing on of FC Platinum midfielder, Brian Banda who succumbed to injuries, following a car accident in Filabusi, along the Zvishavane- Bulawayo road on Saturday.
Said Zifa in a statement:
“The Zimbabwe Football Association is deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Brian Banda, captain of FC Platinum, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a car accident.
RIP Bibiza.”
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) said the late player had a lasting impact on the field of play.
“The PSL is deeply saddened to learn of the untimely passing of FC Platinum’ s Brian Banda.
Banda, a talented player who graced our league with skill, passion and commitment to the beautiful game.
“Brian left a lasting impact on the field of play and in the hearts of fans…we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, teammates, FC Platinum family and the entire football family during this difficult time.”
Digital creator, Nhlanhla Dube bemoaned the talented midfielder’ s passing.
“Brian Banda gone too soon. Such a sad loss of a talented football artist. Deepest condolences to the FC Platinum updates Platinum Holdings Highlanders F.C Zimbabwe Football Association and the entire Zimbabwe Football family. Hamba kuhle Ndazula, Mshishi.”
Highlanders FC also sent their condolence message.
“Highlanders Football Club is deeply saddened by the untimely passing on of Brian Banda, FC Platinum midfielder and former Highlanders player.
Brian was a gifted midfielder who proudly wore the black-and-white jersey before continuing his professional journey with FC Platinum.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and the entire football fraternity during this time of profound loss.
May his soul rest in eternal peace”.
Caps United said:
“May your soul rest in eternal peace Brian Banda.We are deeply hurt by your tragedy and loss.”
Bulawayo Chiefs FC said Banda was an inspiration to the club’s players.
