Telecommunications giant NetOne has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting digital inclusion and nurturing young innovators through technology after participating in the Mberengwa Schools ICT Fair, Innovations and Business Expo – 10th Edition Launch, held at Maringambizi Secondary School.
The event brought together stakeholders from the information and communications technology sector to promote technological innovation, digital literacy and entrepreneurship among learners, while creating opportunities for young people to explore emerging technologies.
NetOne said its participation underscored the organisation’s commitment to expanding access to digital opportunities and equipping learners with the connectivity, technical support and digital solutions needed to participate in Zimbabwe’s growing digital economy.
The company said the expo was part of the Digitalize Zimbabwe ICT Expo Programme, a national initiative bringing together the Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Mutapa Energy Resources, Video Promotions and NetOne to promote digital empowerment across the country’s ten provinces.
The NetOne delegation, led by Mrs Murove from the E-Governance, Business and Special Projects department, engaged stakeholders and highlighted the importance of partnerships in advancing digital transformation and supporting innovation in educational institutions.
“Connectivity is more than a service; it is a catalyst for opportunity, innovation and national development,” NetOne said.
The telecommunications company noted that initiatives such as the Mberengwa Schools ICT Expo provide platforms for learners to showcase their creativity, develop technological skills and gain exposure to opportunities within the digital economy.
NetOne said it remained committed to building strategic partnerships that deliver sustainable community impact while supporting the country’s development aspirations under Vision 2030 and the Second Republic’s National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).
The company also highlighted that its participation came as it celebrates 30 years of connecting Zimbabweans, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that geographical barriers do not prevent communities, particularly those in rural areas, from accessing digital opportunities.
” As we celebrate 30 years of connecting Zimbabwe, we remain steadfast in our commitment to building strategic partnerships that deliver sustainable community impact, advance the aspirations of Vision 2030 and NDS2, and ensure that geographical boundaries never become barriers to digital opportunity,” the company said.
Through its involvement in educational and community-based ICT initiatives, NetOne continues to position digital connectivity as an important driver of inclusive development, innovation and economic transformation in Zimbabwe.
