Police have arrested several suspects in separate cases involving the unlawful possession of medicines and a firearm, while investigations are continuing into two suspected murder cases in Harare.
The arrests and investigations were recorded between July 12 and September 18, 2026, as police continue operations targeting crime and domestic violence.
In Bubi, members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Support Unit deployed under Operation “No to Cross Border Crimes” arrested 35-year-old Polite Chimoyo on September 17 at about 9pm for unlawful possession of unregistered medicines.
Police recovered cartons of Broncleer Cough Syrup and Astra Pain Cough Syrup, with a reported street value of about US$2,000.
The arrest is part of ongoing police operations targeting the illegal movement and possession of medicines and other goods across the country’s borders.
Meanwhile, police in Masvingo arrested 22-year-old James Machumi on September 18 following information received concerning the unlawful possession of a firearm and an armed robbery.
Police reportedly recovered a shotgun concealed in blankets at Machumi’s residence at Mbuyanehanda Business Centre.
According to police, the firearm was allegedly stolen during an armed robbery in Nyika, Bikita, in August 2025.
In a separate case in Hatfield, police arrested 30-year-old Stephen Sarurai in connection with the alleged murder of his wife, 26-year-old Zvikomborero Tari.
The incident reportedly occurred at a house in Maruwa Farm Compound, Hatfield, on September 17 following a domestic dispute allegedly linked to accusations of infidelity.
Police allege that Sarurai strangled Tari with a shoelace, resulting in her death.
The case has renewed concerns over domestic violence, with police urging members of the public to seek lawful and peaceful ways of resolving disputes and to report cases of domestic abuse before they escalate into violence.
Police are also investigating the suspected murder of an unidentified man whose body was discovered along an unnamed dust road passing through Newcastle Group of Schools in Dzivarasekwa on July 12.
The unidentified victim was found wearing a grey jacket, grey trousers, a white and navy-blue striped T-shirt, a sun hat and black-and-white sneakers.
Police said the man had a deep cut above his right eye, scratch marks on both hands, a fractured right leg and swelling on his back.
The body is currently being held at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals pending identification.
Police have appealed to anyone with information that could assist in identifying the deceased or establishing the circumstances surrounding his death to report to the nearest police station.
The cases highlight the range of criminal investigations being handled by police, from the illegal possession of medicines and firearms to violent crime and suspected domestic-related killings.
