WAYNE COUNTY, OHIO — It began with seven seeds.
Not seven hectares. Not seven million dollars.
Seven seeds of maize: sitting in the palm of a man with no bank statement and no donor cheque.
Prof. Moses Rumano planted them anyway.
In doing so, he planted Redstar Maputi LLC— today a registered company in Wayne County, Ohio, that processes, brands, and sells maize products on American retail shelves.
No big capital. No massive farm. No donor funding.
Just belief. Knowledge. And the audacity to plant.
“POSITIONING BEATS PRODUCTION”
The lesson isn’t in the yield. It’s in the decisions.
Rumano didn’t just grow maize. He escaped the commodity trap.
Raw grain became packaged food.
A commodity became a brand.
A brand found a customer willing to pay more.
“I never asked myself how much I could grow. I asked myself who would pay me for what I grow and how much more they would pay if I did the processing myself. That single question changed everything,”said Rumano

NOW, ZIMBABWE. 200-300 HECTARES.
Here’s where the story comes home.
Prof. Rumano is not returning with a speech. He’s returning with a blueprint.
He is looking to secure 200 to 300 hectares in Zimbabwe — not to farm in secret, but to build a visible proving ground.
_“I am looking forward to sharing my experiences in Zimbabwe. But I don’t want to stand on a stage and talk about what is possible. I want to secure 200 to 300 hectares and demonstrate what I am capable of — so that a farmer standing at the fence can see it, walk it, and copy it.”_
_“Zimbabwe’s farmers don’t lack ability. They lack a visible template. Give them something to touch, and they will out-farm me.”_
This is not charity. This is proof.
In Murehwa’s maize belt, a veteran agronomist put it plainly:
_“We have the soil. We have the hands. What we do not have is someone who has walked the whole road and come back to show us the map. If he brings 200 hectares of demonstrable systems — records, processing, contracts, markets — that is worth more than a hundred workshops. Farmers believe what they can harvest, not what they are told.”_
DIAGNOSIS BEFORE PRESCRIPTION
The Rumano template is not complicated. It is disciplined:
• Start small, but think in SYSTEMS — 7 seeds can become 7,000 with a plan, not a prayer
