MASVINGO — Citizens Against Economic Sanctions (CAES) Masvingo has applauded the hosting of the 19th edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo in Masvingo, describing the event as a major opportunity for Zimbabwe to showcase its tourism potential to the world.
The prestigious tourism expo, officially opened by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has brought together tourism stakeholders and visitors, providing Zimbabwe with an opportunity to promote its attractions and tell its own story to both local and international audiences.
CAES Masvingo provincial chairperson Cecilia Mudangaza commended President Mnangagwa for allowing the expo to be held in Masvingo, saying the event would help showcase the province’s tourism potential.
“I would like to personally thank His Excellency for such an honour. As CAES Masvingo, we welcome all Zimbabweans and foreigners. Come and see Masvingo and enjoy the tranquil air of our province,” she said.
Her sentiments were echoed by CAES interim leader Ellison Muchenje, popularly known as Cde Samuriwo, who said the organisation was grateful for the recognition given to Masvingo through the hosting of the international tourism event.
“Truly, we are grateful as CAES for the recognition of Masvingo to host an event of such great magnitude,” Muchenje said.
He added: “As Zimbabwe, it is our time to shine and show the world who we are.”
Citizens Against Economic Sanctions (CAES) is an organisation that advocates against the impact of economic sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe, arguing that such measures have negatively affected the country’s economy and ordinary citizens.
The organisation has been involved in campaigns and awareness initiatives calling for the removal of sanctions and promoting national economic development.
The hosting of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo in Masvingo is therefore being viewed by CAES as an important opportunity to promote the province and Zimbabwe at large, while encouraging both domestic and international visitors to explore the country’s tourism attractions.
The event also provides a platform for tourism businesses, communities and other stakeholders to engage with international markets and promote Zimbabwe’s diverse tourism attractions, cultural heritage and investment opportunities.
For Masvingo, the expo is expected to strengthen the province’s profile as a tourism destination, particularly given its rich cultural and historical heritage, including the Great Zimbabwe National Monument.
