The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service Staff College on Saturday graduated 54 middle managers who completed Management and Leadership Development Course in Corrections No. 9.
The officers, drawn from the ranks of Principal Correctional Officer and Chief Correctional Officer, graduated at Chikurubi Damview Events Garden under the theme, Excellence in Corrections.
Deputy Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Honourable Nobert T. Mazungunye, who was the guest of honour, commended the officers for their commitment to professional growth.
“This event recognises dedication, resilience, and the pursuit of excellence in correctional leadership,” said Hon. Mazungunye.
He said investment in human capital was critical to organisational success and described workforce development as the cornerstone of institutional excellence.
Hon. Mazungunye also commended the course for its broad and multidisciplinary approach, saying it prepared leaders for the demands of modern justice.
“This approach reflects a progressive understanding of the diverse competencies required of today’s correctional leaders. It demonstrates the Service’s commitment to producing officers who are capable of driving institutional reform, innovation, and operational excellence,” he said.
He urged the graduands to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the programme to improve their respective stations.
“Your workstations should become centres of excellence that reflect the knowledge, competencies, and values you have acquired during this programme,” said Hon. Mazungunye.
He also urged them to match their qualifications with character and humility in service.
“While your achievements deserve recognition, they should inspire greater humility and an even stronger commitment to excellence in service,” he said.
