A Bindura based robber James Chigume from Wayerera village was slapped with a five year jail term for robbery by Bindura magistrate Felix Chauromwe.
The 21-year-old convict will serve 4 years and six months after six 7 on condition of good behaviour.
Prosecutor Sheilla Kudzai Maribha told the court that on Apri 4 around midnight, Chigume who was travelling in ox-drawn chart met the complainant Prince Munzara (45) who was walking on foot.
Chigume invited Munzara in his chart, and he boarded the chart.
After moving for a few meters , the robber ordered the complainant to disembark and he grabbed him by the collar before pinning him down.
The complainant was overpowered and robbed of his cellphone and $68.
Chigume took the loot and went away.
