Harare — President Emmerson Mnangagwa has opened the 133rd Ordinary Session of the ZANU PF Central Committee, urging party members to move from resolutions to results and to make the 23rd National People’s Conference a turning point for economic development and empowerment towards Vision 2030.

Addressing the Central Committee in Harare on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, Mnangagwa said the Conference theme, “From Resolutions to Results: Consolidating Economic Development and Deepening Economic Empowerment Towards Vision 2030,” was instructive and affirmed that the era of resolutions without implementation had ended.

“The theme exhorts every structure and cadre of the Party to convert policy into outputs and ultimately a better quality of life for the people of our motherland, Zimbabwe,” he said.

Mnangagwa said the gathering in Chinhoyi, Mashonaland West Province, known for the historic battle of 1966, afforded the Party an opportunity for renewal and recalibration, and to strengthen the linkages between ZANU PF and the people through wholehearted service.

He said the Conference would review activities undertaken by the Party since the last gathering and map out the course of action to propel productivity, industrialisation, modernisation and overall economic prosperity for all people.

Mnangagwa commended Standing Committees of the Central Committee for their oversight role over Party Departments, saying this had led to the successes reported and proposals proffered in the Central Committee Report, which has been prepared for submission to the Conference.

He said in line with long existing Party modalities and efforts to enhance internal participatory democracy, the Conference would be attended by delegates representing broader structures of the Party, allowing for multiple voices and broader ideas from the generality of membership, while bolstering feedback and accountability.

“ZANU PF is leaving no one and no place behind,” he said.

President Mnangagwa thanked well-wishers and Party members who gave, in cash and kind, towards hosting the landmark Conference. He said the Treasurer General had reported that Central Committee and Politburo Conference contributions totalled close to US$80,000.

“Congratulations for this show of commitment, this is leadership. Well done,” he said.

He said the Party had coordinated various community development projects in and around the hosting venue as part of its standing tradition. A water purification plant was upgraded and boreholes drilled at Chinhoyi University of Technology to augment water supplies. Water infrastructure within Chinhoyi was improved, with over 3,000 households benefiting from new water connections.

Additionally, 10 blocks of students’ accommodation and staff houses were refurbished at CUT as part of the Conference legacy projects. Mnangagwa commended the Mining Industry Pension Fund which constructed accommodation to cater for over 1,000 students, saying the facility would be available for Conference delegates.

Chinhoyi Hospital will also unveil a new solar power plant and medical oxygen facility constructed with the help of international partners.

President Mnangagwa urged delegates to be result-oriented and to conduct deliberations in a manner demonstrating that ZANU PF is a mature and democratic Party. He said the Party and national interest remain central to discussions, and urged members to distinguish between principled contributions intended to improve the Party and conduct that seeks to divide or derail the Conference Agenda.

“Preferences of cliques and narrow inclinations, among other retrogressive acts, have no place in our Party. Hatidi mweya waRegioni muMusangano wedu,” he said.

He said the Conference must assess progress, confront shortcomings and renew commitment to the people, and called on the Central Committee to guide the Conference with wisdom, discipline and bold focus, ensuring Resolutions are forward-looking and capable of propelling Zimbabwe towards Vision 2030.

“Overall, we have a duty to examine our internal systems, address the gaps, while individually and collectively recommitting ourselves to the Party’s core values. Our unity, peace, patriotism, hard-honest work, solidarity and quest for development and a higher quality of life for our people must be defended and advanced by all cadres of the Party. Forward ever. Backward never,” President Mnangagwa said.

He declared the 133rd Session of the Central Committee officially open and wished delegates safe travels to Chinhoyi for the main Conference proceedings.
