The Albino Charity Organisation of Zimbabwe (ALCOZ) will take its community outreach programme to Chiredzi this weekend, bringing essential skin-care and personal hygiene products to persons with albinism while raising awareness on the importance of inclusion and community support.

The outreach programme is scheduled for Saturday, 10 October 2026, at Chitsanga Hall in Chiredzi, where beneficiaries will receive free sunscreen lotions, sanitary wear, lip balms and other essential products.

According to ALCOZ, the programme will run from 10am to 3pm and is aimed at providing practical support to persons with albinism, particularly those who face challenges accessing products that are essential for protecting their skin and maintaining their wellbeing.

“ALCOZ is taking its outreach programme to Chiredzi to support persons with albinism through access to essential products and community support,” the organisation said.

The organisation said sunscreen remains particularly important for persons with albinism because reduced melanin increases vulnerability to ultraviolet radiation and related skin complications.

ALCOZ said the distribution of sunscreen and other personal-care products was therefore part of its broader efforts to promote healthier and safer lives for people with albinism.

The organisation also highlighted the importance of sanitary wear and other basic products, saying access to essential items can help improve dignity, confidence and participation in community life.

The Albino Charity Organisation of Zimbabwe is a community-focused organisation working to improve the welfare, inclusion and empowerment of persons with albinism in Zimbabwe.

Its work includes raising awareness about albinism, promoting access to essential support, advocating for the rights and dignity of people with albinism, and helping communities understand the challenges faced by persons with the condition.

ALCOZ’s outreach initiatives also seek to address misconceptions and stigma surrounding albinism, while encouraging communities to treat persons with albinism with equality and respect.

The organisation said its programmes are guided by the need to ensure that persons with albinism are not left behind in accessing basic services, information and opportunities.

“Protecting skin and empowering lives remains central to our work,” ALCOZ said, urging communities to support initiatives that promote the wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with albinism.

The Chiredzi outreach is expected to provide an opportunity for beneficiaries and community members to engage with ALCOZ, access support and learn more about albinism and skin protection.

ALCOZ encouraged persons with albinism and other interested community members in Chiredzi and surrounding areas to attend the programme.
