TWO suspected stock thieves from Figtree were yesterday released by the Plumtree Magistrates’ Court after the State withdrew charges against them.

Limukani Nkomo (40) and Palmer Sibanda appeared before Plumtree magistrate Busani Sibanda facing stock theft charges.

The State, led by Ms Ruth Ncube, withdrew the charges against the two after indicating that it intends to use them as State witnesses against their alleged accomplice, Misheck Banda.

The two were represented by Bulawayo lawyer Mr Joshua Nembaware of T Hara and Partners.

The State alleged that on June 25, Nkomo and Sibanda stole two bovines and subsequently sold them.

However, the State decided not to proceed with the charges against the pair as their evidence is considered important in the case against Banda.

The matter against Banda is expected to proceed separately.
