Harare – NetOne Cellular staff across Zimbabwe traded office desks for brooms, gloves and trash bags this past Friday as the company took part in the monthly One Mega Clean-Up Campaign. The exercise was carried out simultaneously in Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare, Masvingo, Midlands, Bindura and Chitungwiza as part of NetOne’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and national development.

The nationwide initiative supports the Government’s environmental conservation efforts and forms part of the National Clean-Up Programme launched by His Excellency President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa. The programme designates the first Friday of every month as National Clean-Up Day, and NetOne has made consistent participation a key part of its Corporate Social Investment agenda.

In Harare, NetOne joined its parent Ministry of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services together with the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe, TelOne, Zimpost and ZARNET. Leaders and employees from across the ICT and postal sector came together to improve environmental cleanliness while strengthening collaboration between institutions.

In Bulawayo, Mutare, Masvingo, Midlands, Bindura and Chitungwiza, NetOne regional teams worked with local authorities, the Environmental Management Agency, community-based organisations, residents’ associations and other stakeholders. Together they undertook clean-up activities and raised awareness on proper waste management, environmental conservation and community ownership.

Speaking on the initiative, NetOne Public Relations Manager Ernest Magadzire said environmental stewardship remains a strategic pillar of the company. “At NetOne, we believe that building a digitally connected Zimbabwe goes hand in hand with building clean, healthy and sustainable communities. Our One Mega Clean-Up Campaign reflects our unwavering commitment to complementing Government’s environmental agenda while strengthening partnerships with local authorities, communities and key stakeholders across the country. Together, we are creating environments that support economic growth, public health and the realisation of Vision 2030,” he said.

As Zimbabwe’s pioneering mobile telecommunications operator, NetOne recognises that sustainable environmental management underpins economic productivity, public health and resilient national infrastructure. Through strategic partnerships and community engagement, the company continues to embed sustainability within its Corporate Social Investment programmes, creating lasting value beyond connectivity while supporting inclusive national development.

The One Mega Clean-Up Campaign directly supports the aspirations of National Development Strategy 2, which identifies environmental protection, climate resilience and sustainable waste management as key enablers of socio-economic transformation. By aligning its investment initiatives with Government priorities, NetOne remains a dependable partner in advancing Vision 2030 and building an empowered, prosperous and upper-middle-income Zimbabwe.

As the nation prepares to commemorate Heroes Day and Zimbabwe Defence Forces Day, NetOne joins Zimbabweans in honouring the gallant sons and daughters whose courage and sacrifice secured the country’s independence. Guided by this enduring legacy, the company remains steadfast in complementing Government’s development agenda through initiatives that promote environmental stewardship, digital inclusion, community empowerment and sustainable socio-economic transformation for the benefit of all Zimbabweans.
