By A Correspondent – Community leader and philanthropist Vengai Chivaura has stepped in to support a grieving family in Mashanda Village, Ward 18, Mhondoro, following the tragic death of a young man who was allegedly murdered under disturbing circumstances.
Speaking on Tuesday, Chivaura expressed sadness over the incident and detailed the help he provided to the bereaved family.
“There was a death of a young man who was murdered in Ward 18, at Mashanda Village, an area known as Masvosve,” he said. “I bought a coffin and arranged for the transportation of the body from Harare Hospital. After that, the father and mother of the deceased, along with the uncle who is the father’s elder brother, were all arrested and accused of murdering their son.”
The deceased, identified as Alfred White, was 25 years old at the time of his death and was buried on November 4, 2025. Chivaura confirmed that the father of the deceased has since been released on bail as investigations continue.
Chivaura, who is well-known in Mhondoro-Mubaira for his humanitarian work and commitment to uplifting local communities, said his actions are guided by compassion and a desire to promote peace and unity.
“We stand for community development, public safety, and empowerment,” he said.
Residents have since commended Chivaura for his continued efforts to support families in need and for showing leadership during times of tragedy.
