The Federation of Zimbabwe Educators Unions (FOZEU) has appointed a three member Independent Truth Commission to establish the facts and recommend actions to resolve the current factional dispute within the Educators Union of Zimbabwe (EUZ).

This was revealed by FOZEU Secretary General, Obert Masaraure in a letter dated 15 September 2025.

“The Commission was appointed under the authority of the FOZEU Secretary General and in line with the FOZEU Constitution (Sections 5.7 and 5.10).Commissioners:Given Fusira (Professional Educators Union — PEUZ)Thembakhuye Moyo (Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe — ARTUZ)Tawanda Nyati (Zimbabwe Visually Impaired Teachers Union — ZIVITU).

Mandate:To investigate the circumstances leading to factionalism within EUZ, identify root causes, and recommend practical measures to protect the integrity of EUZ and FOZEU and to promote unity among educators.
“The Commission is empowered to request documents, hold interviews, and receive submissions from all interested parties.The Commission will operate impartially and will conclude its work within one month, submitting a written report and recommendations to the FOZEU Secretary General and NEC.FOZEU calls on all parties — and all members of EUZ — to cooperate with the Commission in good faith. FOZEU remains committed to the unity, welfare and representation of educators in Zimbabwe.”
The development follows a meeting on 29 August where the Educators Union of Zimbabwe (EUZ) , an affiliate of FOZEU resolved to dismiss Ms Tafadzwa Munodawafa from presidency following allegations of misconduct.
The meeting also resolved to terminate membership of Tapedza Zhou and relieved him from his post of Secretary General of EUZ.
Molly Banda and Thando Bhebe were appointed Acting President and Secretary General respectively until the forthcoming conference.
Tadeu Kaguda was dismissed from the post of Treasurer following allegations of financial misconduct.
