Girl students outshone their male counterparts, according to November 2024 Advanced Level results statistics released by the Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC), yesterday.
According to the statistics female candidates recorded a pass rate of 95.94 percent for those who wrote two or more subjects, marking an increase up from the 92.32 percent pass rate in 2023.
On the other hand, male candidates achieved a 93.13 pass rate percentage a decrease from 2023′ s 93.95 percent.
“We are thrilled to see our female candidates excelling and continuing to out perform their male counterparts,”ZIMSEC board chairperson, Professor Paul Mapfumo said at a media briefing in Harare yesterday.
“While the performance of male candidates remains steady, there is always room for improvement,” he added.
A total of 33 246 candidates wrote 2 or more subjects in November 2024 compared to 34 060 who wrote the examination in 2023. For those who wrote two or more subjects, 31 443 obtained Grade E or better in two or more subjects. This translates to 94.58% pass rate.
