Residents of Manicaland in Mutare are questioning the rationale behind the displacement of the Mahwindi touts, especially considering that officials have subsequently established a similar structure.

The well-known touts in the Eastern border city, were removed from their ranks in April during the Easter holiday, ostensibly for reasons of maintaining order.

However, it is perplexing that after their removal, some of these individuals were detained, and it has been reliably reported that certain senior council and police officials are involved in the establishment of the newly introduced touts.

“This situation defies logic and suggests that the entire operation was a strategic maneuver to deprive the youth of their source of income.

“While we do not condone criminal activities, this appears to be a highly calculated move,” narrated by Elder Eddius Sinyoro.
