Ephraim Maunze,Councillor for Zvimba district ward 20 on 18 April, 2026 convened a first-ever colourful independence day celebrations event at Munhondo Primary School grounds at Maryland,Darwendale in Zvimba South constituency highly attended by hundreds of citizens from the surrounding areas and beyond.
The celebrations were marked under the nationwide theme:Celebrating freedom, unity and development. They were also graced by community members,leaders including invited guests. The programme included a brief history of independence testimony from a liberation war veteran, poetry and a short drama by school children on the liberation struggle. Other performances were from invited artists, sports and recreation activities with an exciting match tournament which showcased local talent.
Another major highlight of the celebrations was the reading of the 46th lndependence Presidential speech. An exciting musical gala event was hosted in the night by the convener with a local band entertaining guests.
The celebrations were also graced by officials from the ZANU (PF) Mashonaland West provincial office,members of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) and other government officials.
Councillor Maunze is also the Founder and National Chairperson of the Farmworkers 4ED and Josiah Chiyedzo Dimbo is the National Advisor of the same organisation.
Farm Workers 4 Economic Development (FW4ED) is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of farm workers in Zimbabwe. Through their National ID facilitation, skills training, empowerment programmes and advocacy, they equip farm workers with the tools they need for self-reliance, dignity and sustainable livelihoods.
They also champion better housing, fair working conditions ensuring farm workers thrive as key contributors to Zimbabwe’s agricultural prosperity.
