HARARE — President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has appointed Mr Paul Chikawa as Director-General of the President’s Department with immediate effect.
The appointment was announced in an official press statement issued on 10 April 2026 by Dr M. Rushwaya, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet.
“In terms of Section 226(1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, His Excellency the President, Cde. Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has appointed Mr. Paul Chikawa as the Director General, President’s Department,” the statement reads. “The appointment is with immediate effect.”
The official Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet and was released through the Department of Presidential Communications, Office of the President and Cabinet.
The Director-General leads the President’s Department, which falls under the Office of the President and Cabinet and is responsible for state security and intelligence functions. The appointment is made in terms of Section 226(1) of the Constitution, which vests the President with authority to appoint the head of the department.
