Gweru City Parking has introduced a 15 minute grace period for unpaid tickets to motorists with expired valid discs of less than one hour.

“Enjoy a 15 minute grace period for unpaid tickets and after the expiry of the valid disc,”Gweru City Parking said.

“Please note, no grace period applies if your vehicle has unpaid arrears of 1 hour or more.”

Motorists interviewed by The Blast applauded the parking management company for extending the grace period particularly during the festive season.

One motorist, James Chiseko of Ascot suburb said the move gave motorists time to renew their parking discs.

“This is quite a noble move by Gweru City Parking and that grace period gives motorists reasonable time to renew their parking discs,”Chiseko.

“Gweru City Parking has shown sensitivity especially during this festive season and we would like to thank them as motorists.”

Another motorist kenias Choto of Mtapa suburb said the parking management company has shown that it not just after money for motorists.

“That grace period has shown that Gweru City Parking is not an ambush company that it just after people’s money,”Choto said.

“If they were not considerate they would just clamp a vehicle soon after the expiry of a valid disc. But when time is given to renew it shows great consideration of giving time motorists to renew expired discs.”

Gweru City Parking has been commended for introducing a system that is more effective compared to the manual system which was prone to abuse by council workers.

Previously the parking management firm has extended promotions to motorists particularly during holidays like Easter and Heroes’ Day celebrations.
