The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) is set to adopt Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles to enhance it’s operations and to also move with global trends.

On 28 October,2025, POTRAZ held a customer service and experience training programme targeting various departments of the organization. The training focused on customer service and ESG principles and has been held in October, the month of customer service commemorations which are observed by various organizations and companies throughout the country.

At the training programme, it was revealed that POTRAZ is aiming to be ESG compliant in the coming few years time. The authority has also confirmed that it will soon publicize tenders for ESG consultancy and ewaste management services. In a presentation on the importance of ESG principles of and practices in delivering the authority’s mandate,an expert from Zimbabwe’s Scientific Industrial Research Development Center ( SIRDC), Dr Farai Matawa said among other benefits,ESG principles,if adopted by companies and organizations help enhance the responsible use of natural resources, promote sustainability and help companies to attract much needed investment.

Dr Matawa said ESG is a pillar framework used to assess an organization’s business practices and performance on various sustainability and ethical issues. Dr Matawa said ESG concerns are generally two-fold focusing on what companies are doing to ensure their practices have a positive impact on society (people) and the environment (planet). The principles also focus on what companies are doing to manage business and financial risks related to the ESG matter.
