Michael Nees

Speaking ahead of the Warriors World Cup Qualifier against Rwanda ,Nees defended his Warriors record and called for perspective.

‘We are as good as any other national team that achieved something in your history,

“We qualified for AFCON — we were the only Zimbabwean team to qualify for an international tournament recently, No youth team, no club team, no women’s team has achieved that.”

“I don’t understand this negativism. It is high time that we all — including the media — apply some sense of realism. We must recognize where we come from, the potential of Zimbabwe, and pull together in one direction towards a positive AFCON.”

“The scapegoating and bad-mouthing of individuals is not fair. Zimbabwe is not a country that has won AFCON three times, nor one that has qualified for the World Cup once or twice. We have to keep perspective.”

“We have talent, we are good — but only if we stick together.
