Zimbabwe’s national dam level average stood at 84.6 percent as at 28 September 2026, with water storage levels continuing to vary across the country, the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) has reported.

In its latest dam levels update, ZINWA said the national average reflected the amount of water stored in the country’s dams at the time of the assessment, while noting differences in storage levels among individual water bodies and areas.
“Zimbabwe’s national dam level average currently stands at 84.6 percent,” ZINWA said in the update.
The authority said the varying water storage levels across the country highlighted the importance of responsible and efficient water use as the country seeks to safeguard available water resources.

ZINWA’s latest figures provide an important snapshot of the country’s water-resource position as communities, farmers, industries and local authorities continue to depend on dams for domestic, agricultural and other water requirements.
Although the national average remains relatively high, the authority’s emphasis on responsible water use reflects the need to manage water resources carefully, particularly because storage levels differ from one dam and catchment area to another.
Efficient water use also remains important in protecting supplies for communities and economic activities while ensuring that available resources are conserved for future needs.
ZINWA regularly monitors dam levels and provides updates as part of its role in managing Zimbabwe’s water resources.

The authority has urged communities and other water users to remain conscious of the need to conserve water and use available supplies efficiently.
The latest update is available through ZINWA’s dam-levels platform, which provides information on the status of the country’s water storage.
ZINWA said its approach remains centred on safeguarding water resources for communities and supporting national development.
