Mbire- Through the strategic Partnership Agreement (SPAII), 2022–2026, women and youth in Mbire District, Mashonaland Central Province, are sustaining their livelihoods through Agroecology.

According to Action Aid Zimbabwe:
“For 4 years, young people and women in Mbire have been leading change — with support from ActionAid Zimbabwe, Fambidzanai Permaculture Centre ZWE and Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke.

“They are running agroecology training, turning non-timber forest products into income, installing solar water systems, and setting up green businesses.
They are reviving Environmental Committees and Disaster Risk Reduction Committees and making sure women’s voices count in decisions that affect their communities.”

Action Aid Zimbabwe said the women and youth are getting hands on training at Shashe School of Agroecology.

“Through the PAMUSHA model, feminist leadership training, and hands-on learning at Shashe School of Agroecology, they’re building skills that last and livelihoods that withstand climate shocks.”

Agroecology in is a sustainable farming method used by smallholder farmers to grow food despite climate change. It relies on key practices like water harvesting, planting drought-resistant small grains, and mixing crops with livestock.
