Correctional Queens FC played to a 0-0 draw against Herentals Queens FC at Mkushi Academy Stadium yesterday to move to 17 points after eight league matches.
The draw came after last week’s defeat to Harare City Queens, with Correctional Queens producing a disciplined performance against Herentals Queens.
Both teams created scoring opportunities throughout the match, but disciplined defending and goalkeeping ensured neither side found the net. Correctional Queens forward Blessing Dube posed an attacking threat, while Egnes Tumbare led the defence effectively to deny the Herentals attack.
The match’s major talking point came in the 80th minute when Blessing Dube was brought down during an attacking move. The incident drew protests from the travelling supporters, who believed the challenge warranted a harsher punishment, but the referee issued a yellow card.
Head Coach Tsitsi Shiri said she was satisfied with the team’s performance despite missing out on maximum points.
“We wanted all three points, but one point is a plus for us. The players worked hard and showed great character against a very competitive side,” she said.
The result moves Correctional Queens FC to 17 points after eight matches as the team prepares for its next league fixture.
