The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) has announced that its 48th Biennial General Assembly will take place from 21 to 24 July.
“The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) is pleased to announce the upcoming 48th Biennial General Assembly, taking place from 21-24 July 2026, under the theme: “Breaking Walls, Building Bridges and Projecting the Future.”,”said ZCC.
“Rooted in John 17:6 – 11, this Assembly calls the Church to deepen unity, confront injustice, and collectively envision a just, inclusive, and hope-filled future for Zimbabwe.
As the highest decision-making body of the ZCC, the General Assembly will bring together member churches for worship, reflection, leadership renewal, and strategic engagement on the most pressing issues of our time, including governance, economic justice, climate change, and social wellbeing.
” At a time of complex national challenges and opportunities, the Church continues to stand as a moral voice and a bridge-builder, faithfully embracing its Watchman mandate, committed to dialogue, accountability, and transformation.”
ZCC is an ecumenical body -an umbrella organization that brings together different Christian churches in Zimbabwe to work together
It was founded in 1960 and has a 32 member denominations representing 3 million Zimbabwean Christians who includes Methodist, Anglican, Lutheran, United Church of Christ, Salvation Army, etc.
It’s headquarters are in Kentucky Hotel area, Harare.
ZCC is a voice for churches, speakin on national issues like democracy, rule of law, elections, constitutionalism, peace and reconciliation.
It also advocates for social justice, work on climate change, drug/substance abuse, economic justice, tax justice and drought relief.
It calls for unity and work across the ecumenical divide” to build a united, just, peaceful Zimbabwe.
