…..Firm Faith director Marshal Matsilele

HARARE — Zimbabwe’s a cappella gospel trailblazers Firm Faith will turn the Hippodrome in Braeside into a house of worship and celebration on May 30, as they mark 20 years with a sold-out concert featuring some of Southern Africa’s biggest voices.
South Africa’s legendary Reality 7 and The Soul, Zambia’s Rudo Accappella, and Zimbabwe’s own Shower Power will join the hosts for what is shaping up to be one of the region’s most significant gospel nights in years.
“Finally we are here. We are just fighting with last-minute birds who are buying their tickets, but I can safely say it’s a sold-out event,” said Firm Faith director Marshal Matsilele.
“We are just doing final touches and rehearsing for the last time, but everything is now in place.”
Born in the early 2000s from students at Nyazura Mission, Firm Faith grew from a small church ensemble into one of Zimbabwe’s most respected gospel brands through spiritually uplifting music, disciplined vocal arrangements and high-energy live shows.
Matsilele recalled early resistance from conservative church circles that questioned their contemporary a cappella style. The group persisted, ministering at churches, hospitals, funerals and weddings even when finances were tight.
Two decades later, Firm Faith’s anniversary concert is set to crown that journey with a night of faith, culture and regional unity.
