Citizens Against Economic Sanctions (CAES) Harare Province has thrown its weight behind the organisation’s national leadership, defending the constitutional right to freedom of expression and expressing solidarity with prominent Zimbabweans recently described in media reports as an “anti-people group”.

In a statement issued by its Communications Department, CAES Harare said it supported national Vice Chairman Cde Wallace Matavire’s response to the reports, arguing that differences in opinion should be handled through constructive dialogue rather than public condemnation.
“Every Zimbabwean has a constitutional right to freedom of expression, and no individual should be subjected to intimidation, unfair labelling or public condemnation for expressing their views,” CAES Harare said.

The provincial chapter also reaffirmed its support for Interim National Chairman Cde Ellison Muchenje, popularly known as Chief Samuriwo (pictured) and the other individuals mentioned in the reports.
CAES Harare said responsible journalism, mutual respect and open dialogue were essential in protecting national unity and preventing divisions among Zimbabweans.

The organisation also congratulated Elder Kudakwashe Tagwirei on his elevation, wishing him success in his future endeavours.
It said leadership, entrepreneurship, investment and philanthropy remained important pillars in driving economic development and improving people’s livelihoods.
“We recognise the importance of leadership, entrepreneurship, investment and philanthropy in promoting economic development and improving the livelihoods of Zimbabweans,” the organisation said.
CAES Harare reiterated its commitment to advocating for the removal of economic sanctions, citing their perceived implications for business operations, investment, economic growth and the welfare of ordinary citizens.

The organisation called on Zimbabweans to support initiatives that promote economic empowerment, job creation, investment and sustainable national development.
It said its advocacy efforts would continue to focus on defending constitutional rights, supporting initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of disadvantaged communities and advancing the country’s economic interests.

“National development requires unity of purpose, respect for differing opinions and a shared determination to build a prosperous Zimbabwe,” CAES Harare said.
The provincial chapter said it remained united with the organisation’s national leadership and all Zimbabweans committed to economic emancipation and social development.

It urged citizens to embrace economic justice, freedom of expression and national unity while supporting efforts towards building a Zimbabwe free from economic sanctions.
