Approximately 50 000 congregants gathered at Glamis Arena in Harare for the ninth edition of the Daughters of Virtue (DOV) Mega All-Night Prayer, as the annual Christian gathering continued to grow into one of Zimbabwe’s major prayer and worship events.
The Mega 9 gathering, held on Friday, October 2, brought together believers from different Christian denominations and backgrounds for an all-night programme of prayer, worship, preaching and gospel music.
The event was led by DOV founder and leader Prophetess Memory Matimbire, who has overseen the growth of the Mega gatherings since their inception.
The annual gathering has grown significantly since the inaugural Mega event, attracting increasing numbers of worshippers each year and extending its reach beyond Zimbabwe.
The eighth edition, held in 2025, attracted more than 40 000 congregants, demonstrating the growing popularity of the prayer gathering and setting the stage for another major turnout at Mega 9.
Addressing worshippers and supporters of the Mega gatherings, Matimbire said the growth of the event was a testimony to God’s work and the commitment of believers to prayer.
She said Mega 9 was expected to bring experiences that would exceed what people had witnessed at previous editions.
“Mega 9, there are things that have not yet been seen by the people of Zimbabwe, Africa and throughout the whole world, that no one has heard of, things that have been prepared for us, so we are expecting the unbelievable,” Matimbire said.
The event featured a line-up of local and international gospel ministers and musicians, providing worshippers with an opportunity to participate in extended periods of praise, worship and prayer.
Among the gospel personalities associated with the Mega 9 programme were Nigerian gospel minister Mercy Chinwo, Takesure Zamar, Mathias Mhere, Joyful Praise, Celebration Choir and Virtuous Praise Choir.
Also lined up to minister were renowned men of God, including Apostle Michael Orokpo, Pastor Tom Deuschle, Bishop Never Muparutsa, Bishop Collin Nyathi and Bishop Emmanuel Louis Nterful.
DOV has maintained an interdenominational approach, bringing together Christians from different churches and communities under one platform.
Beyond the annual Mega gathering, the ministry has also continued with regular prayer programmes and fellowships as part of its wider spiritual outreach.
The turnout at Mega 9 further demonstrated the growing influence of the DOV prayer movement, with more than 50 000 congregants converging at Glamis Arena for a night dedicated to prayer, worship and spiritual renewal.
