Police have arrested six people in separate cases involving stock theft, unlawful possession of dagga and armed robbery in Chipinge, Penhalonga and Siakobvu, with stolen livestock and property recovered.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the arrests as part of ongoing efforts to curb criminal activity across the country.
In Chipinge, police arrested Solomon Khumbula Musize (26) in connection with a stock theft case reported at a school on September 3, 2026.
According to the ZRP, Musize, who resides in the same area, had allegedly been given US$500 by a client to purchase 14 goats.
Police said the suspect allegedly took the money before stealing nine goats — five from the school and four from another villager.
He was subsequently apprehended by members of the community while allegedly delivering the stolen goats in a tricycle.
Police have since recovered the nine stolen goats.
Meanwhile, police in Penhalonga arrested Noel Mbeure (23) on September 4, 2026, for unlawful possession of dagga.
The suspect was travelling as a passenger in a Honda Fit when he was stopped at a police checkpoint at St Augustine.
A search led to the recovery of a black satchel allegedly containing dagga, resulting in Mbeure’s arrest.
In a separate case in Siakobvu, police arrested five suspects in connection with a series of armed robberies at Gunguhwe Shopping Centre on September 2, 2026.
The suspects have been identified as Lloyd Mupedzanhamo (37), Emmanuel Baruti (33), Malven Mupedzanhamo (23), Shelton Heberson Mwayera (23) and Tatenda Murehwa (19).
According to the ZRP, the robberies occurred at approximately 1am, when the suspects allegedly targeted three shops.
Police said the suspects were armed with axes and allegedly robbed the shops of cash, cellphones, bags, clothes and other valuables with a combined estimated value of US$3,470.
Following the arrests, police recovered US$46 and 41 Zambian Kwacha, as well as 14 cellphones, several clothing items, a balaclava, an axe, several satchel bags and power banks.
The recoveries are expected to assist police investigations as the suspects face charges arising from the respective cases.
Police continue to appeal to members of the public to report suspected criminal activity and cooperate with law enforcement agencies in efforts to combat crime.
