Super Size Me Africa Zimbabwe (SSMAZ), alongside its dual-gender counterpart Super Size Men Zimbabwe (SSMZ), has achieved a historic milestone after being selected as one of only eight organizations across the entire African continent to receive a full case-study spotlight in the newly released Alliance for Women and Girls (AFWAG) Grassroots Knowledge Playbook.
Alice Chinya,Founder and Executive Director of SSMAZ said out of thousands of community-led initiatives across Africa, SSMAZ’s groundbreaking “Majestic Voices” campaign was singled out by international selectors for its peerless dedication to body positivity, economic inclusion, and grassroots advocacy.
Chinya said the prestigious continental recognition comes at a monumental time for the organization.
Today Saturday, 23 May 2026, SSMAZ will celebrate its 1st Anniversary and Marketplace at Kwasahwira in Waterfalls, Harare. Chinya said what began a year ago as a localized vision has now officially transformed into an internationally recognized African standard for excellence and community empowerment.
“To be named as one of the final eight full spotlights across Africa is a massive validation of the vibrant energy, confidence, and strength of the plus-size community in Zimbabwe,” says Alice Chinya, Founder and Executive Director of SSMAZ and SSMZ. “We are no longer just building a movement; we are documenting African history and setting a baseline for how grassroots equity should look.”
She said as SSMAZ rolls out its 2026 Strategic Prospectus anchored by its 10 Strategic Pillars spanning Trade, Agriculture, Arts, and Health Equity this international endorsement serves as the ultimate launchpad. The organization will leverage this spotlight to forge high-level corporate partnerships, unlock international donor funding, and expand its economic inclusion frameworks globally.
