HARARE, — The Zimbabwe Republic Police have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the murder of Brian Nandana in Warren Park D, Harare, following the recovery of a blood-stained vehicle at Warren Hills Cemetery.

In a press statement issued on 21 May 2026, police confirmed the arrest of Shepherd Severa, 28. Officers recovered a Toyota Aqua, registration AGO 2804, stained with blood at Warren Hills Cemetery around 0400 hours on 19 May 2026.

Police say subsequent investigations led to Severa’s arrest. According to the statement, the suspect allegedly confessed to killing his friend, Brian Nandana, by cutting his throat with a kitchen knife and sucking his blood. Severa then led police to a shallow grave at Warren Hills Cemetery, where Nandana’s body was exhumed. Police reported a deep cut on the neck and a scar on the back of the head.

Investigations into the full circumstances of the killing are still underway. Police said more details would be released in due course.

The case has shocked Warren Park residents, with many expressing disbelief over the nature of the alleged attack and the discovery of the body at a city cemetery.
